Facility Mission

  • Provision of a multipurpose recreation and cultural facility for the people of Lunenburg County.
  • To optimize efficiencies, flexible use of space, and energy conservation while providing a broad spectrum of educational, recreation, sport, leisure and cultural activities, as well as library services.

User Code of Conduct

The User Code of Conduct was created to promote appropriate, respectful behaviour and good sportsmanship within the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre. The User Code of Conduct applied to all users, participants, rental groups, parents, and spectators within the Centre. Anyone performing unacceptable behaviour may be asked to leave the premises and a suspension or termination of entry (day pass), rental or membership agreement may occur

Unacceptable Behaviour

Shall include, but not be limited to:

  • Physical violence or threats of physical violence.
  • Use of obscene, vulgar, or threatening language, or gestures in any manner to anyone at any time.
  • Taunting of users, members, players, coaches, officials, or other spectators by means of baiting, ridiculing, or the use of abusiveor demeaning language.
  • Suggestive comments, exploitation, intimidation, in language and in action.
  • Willfully damaging Centre property and/or equipment;
  • Using equipment or the Centre with malicious intent.
  • Any other behaviour which a Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre employee finds to be innappropriate, disruptive, or abusive in the circumstances.

 

Introduction

The sport, recreation and community facility houses an NHL-size arena, an aquatic centre suited both leisure and competitive users, a therapeutic pool, a public library and other multi-purpose spaces, including administrative offices, community and cultural spaces and areas capable of hosting meetings, exercise classes, senior citizens' activities and many other functions.

This active living and cultural space was designed to promote community and individual health and wellness through programming and carefully selected facility components while remaining affordable and accessible. The state of the art facility was designed with efficiency, smart use of space and energy conservation in mind. It is fully Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold-certified; a goal planned for throughout the project's development, and includes a number of environmentally conscious features such as geothermal heating and cooling.

The LCLC provides the region with benefits ranging from improving our local economy and public health to increasing the overall quality of life of residents and offering a place for social growth and community cohesion.
